COMMUNICATION ACCESS ASSESSMENT
The Communication Access Assessment is a consultation service that the CCDHH provides to interested agencies and organizations. The primary purpose of the assessment is to assist an agency or organization in providing equal access to communication. The assessment is used to tailor the consultation and training provided by the Commission and other technical assistance providers to the needs of the agency or organization. EDUCATION AND TRAINING WORKSHOPS
About Deaf and Hard of Hearing: Provides in-depth education about the deaf community and hard of hearing individuals, and issues related to communication access.
Cultural and Linguistic Competencies: Consultation and/or professional development in cultural and linguistic competencies.
Communication Services and Technology: Consultation and/or professional development related to communication services and technology used by the deaf and hard of hearing.
Laws and Regulations: Consultation and/or professional development regarding the major federal and state laws and regulations that mandate equal access to communication.
Effective Communication Access to Program and Services: A customized series of workshops to address communication accessibility in government, the workplace, medical and health facilities, legal systems, emergency response services, senior residential communities, schools and other settings.
Community Advocacy: Advocacy training to deaf and hard of hearing individuals to develop an awareness of one's legal rights for self advocacy and self-empowerment.
